Some of our readers suggest logging out and then logging back in helped them fix this problem. Then they could see the Spotify widget on the lock screen of their smartphone. To sign out, tap the Settings icon in the top right and scroll to the bottom of the screen to find the Sign Out option.

After you sign in with your email ID or Facebook account, use the same method you used the first time to try to create a new account. If you can’t create a new account, check if you can now see the Spotify music widget on the lock screen and the controls are working.

2. Notification settings

The Spotify notification settings let you control how notifications are handled when your phone is closed. You can choose to have all notifications show up on the lock screen, or only show notifications for specific apps. You can also choose to hide notifications from certain apps, or turn them off completely.

Open Settings and then tap Notifications & status bar. Make sure that the Show notification icons and Show on lock screen options are enabled. Otherwise, you won’t see notifications or shortcuts for an app on the lock screen. Tap App notifications.

If you want to see the notifications for Spotify in alphabetical order, you can set this preference in your Spotify account settings.

In the screenshot above, there are two more settings. The first is play which allows you to control your music on the lock screen. Tap to open it and make sure the Show notifications option is enabled. Other settings in this screen are optional. Likewise, the Show notifications should be enabled for Spotify Music as well.

Now open Spotify and play a song. If you lock your screen, can you still see the Spotify playback widget there? ..

To check this, open Settings and tap Battery and performance. Again, your smartphone may have slightly different settings (it may be called battery optimization instead) depending on your make and model. Tap Choose apps to configure individual app settings.

To search for Spotify, open the app and scroll to the bottom. Tap No restrictions to disable background restrictions so you can use Spotify while your phone is closed. ..

To stop any running activity behind the screen: Tap Force Stop. To clear all data: Tap Clear data and select Clear all data. ..

Delete Spotify from your smartphone. Go back to the Play Store and reinstall Spotify. See if you can now see the Spotify music widget on the lock screen.
