Guide: Fix ‘YouTube Button Controls Not Disappearing’ Issue

I noticed that when I play a video on YouTube, the buttons like pause and video progress don’t go away automatically even after tapping.

The new X character icon in the bottom right corner of the screen made watching videos on YouTube a bit tedious.

If you are also facing this problem, then I can help you get rid of it. You don’t have to press the X mark to hide the screen controls.

Disable Menu Access and Switch Accessibility

I found a way to use the accessibility menu on my Google Pixel 2 XL without turning off YouTube. By default, the accessibility menu is set to show notifications, recent apps and more. To access the accessibility menu, you can either press and hold on a notification or open the settings app and select “accessibility.” From there, you can turn on or off features that you want to see in the accessibility menu.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Under “General,” tap “Security.”
  3. Under “Screen lock,” select “None.”
  4. Under “Passcode lock,” enter a new passcode.
  5. Under “Location services,” turn off “Location tracking.” ..

Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom and find the “Accessibility” section. There, you’ll find a list of options that you can use to improve your device’s accessibility. Some of these options are: -Make the screen more accessible by adjusting its brightness and color temperature -Adjust the font size and typeface -Set the device to be more responsive by adjusting its motion sensitivity

Step 2: In the accessibility settings, tap Switch access. Then turn it off on the next screen.

If you are using Android 9.0 Pie, tap the Accessibility menu and turn off “VoiceOver.” ..

YouTube is a great way to stay connected to the world and watch your favorite videos. If you’re having trouble starting YouTube, please try restarting your device and opening it again.

Clear cache

YouTube is a great way to watch videos online. However, if you have an iPhone or iPad, you may want to clear the cache for the YouTube app so that you don’t have to wait for the video to load again. Here is how to do it:

  1. Open the YouTube app on your device.
  2. Tap on the three lines in the top left corner of the main screen. This will show a list of options, including “History.”
  3. Scroll down and tap on “Clear Cache.” This will take you to a page where you can choose how long you want the cache to stay active for. You can also choose whether or not to save changes made in this page.

Step 2: Scroll down and find the app you want to uninstall. Step 3: Tap on the uninstall button and confirm your deletion by tapping on the OK button. Step 4: Close the App & notifications app and reopen it.

YouTube will open and you’ll be able to watch your videos. ..

Step 3: Clear cache to improve performance.

Clearing the cache does not log you out of the device and does not delete downloaded video. It only erases temporary files and is different from erasing data.

Update the app

YouTube and YouTube VR need to be updated to fix any bugs in the older versions. Go to Play Store and search for YouTube and YouTube VR. Update both apps. Then restart your device.

Switch to the website

YouTube is a website where you can watch videos. If the problem persists, then you can try using YouTube’s website on one mobile browser. You can also try the YouTube Go app, which is designed for devices with less memory and regions with a poor internet connection.

Bonus Tip: Hide the system navigation bar in full screen mode

  1. Add a “full screen” button to the YouTube main menu.
  2. Change the YouTube settings so that “full screen” is always enabled.
  3. Use a video player that hides the navigation bar in full screen mode, such as VLC or Kodi.

Switch to another app

When you see the navigation bar in the YouTube app, switch to another app using the recent apps button. Once you are in the new app, go back to the YouTube app. The bottom bar will not be there.

Android 9.0 Pie users can use the summary selection feature to copy text and images directly from the recent apps screen.

Enable / disable VR mode

The YouTube app makes any full-screen video friendly with the virtual reality (VR) mode. To hide the navigation bar, you must first turn on VR mode and then turn it off.

To fix the issue of the video going to full screen mode, you can try to toggle the “full screen” mode on and off in the video’s settings.

  1. Choose a topic that is important to you and your readers.
  2. Research the topic thoroughly before writing your article.
  3. Write an article that is well-written and informative.

Step 2: Tap the gear icon in the top left corner and select Settings. Step 3: Under “Video,” tap the three lines in the top right corner and select “Use 360-degree video.” Step 4: Under “VR mode,” tap the circle next to “YouTube VR.” Step 5: Tap OK. To watch a YouTube VR video in full screen, open it in full screen by tapping the three dots icon in the top right corner, and then select Watch in VR. To change to 360-degree video mode, tap Use 360-degree video under Video on Settings. To use YouTube VR, make sure you have a Google Cardboard or other compatible headset and phone, and that your phone is updated to at least Android Nougat (7.1). ..

Step 2: Once in VR mode, tap the cross X icon to exit VR mode. You will be taken to normal mode. Now watch a video and you won’t see the navigation bar.

Turn off Picture-in-Picture mode

Some people have reported that Picture-in-Picture mode (PiP) can be the cause of problems on their devices. This is because there is a bug in the app, and disabling PiP can fix the issue. Here’s how to do it. ..

Step 2: Scroll down and find the Facebook app. Step 3: Tap on the icon and select “Remove from App Store.”

Step 3: Type “YouTube” into the search bar and hit enter.

Step 3: Scroll down and tap Picture-in-picture. Shut it down.

It’s not the best solution if you like PiP mode but it can be one of the options to fix the problem.
