How to Prevent iTunes Opening Automatically When an iPhone Charging – Guide

I don’t like using Apple’s music app because it’s huge and I don’t have to sync my phone. I usually charge my iPhone overnight by plugging it into the wall socket beside my bed, but there are times when I need to charge it while I’m at my PC or Mac.

There is a solution to prevent iTunes from starting immediately when you connect your iPhone to your computer. Luckily, there is a way to do this on both the Mac and Windows platforms. I will also teach you how to prevent the MacOS Photos app from starting right away when you simply want to charge your iPhone from Mac as a bonus. ..

How to Stop opening iTunes when an iPhone is connected

Mac OS:

To prevent iTunes from opening automatically when you connect your iPhone, open iTunes and go to Preferences using the Comma Command keyboard shortcut or by going to iTunes > Preferences. Then click the Devices tab and check the box to Prevent iPods, iPhones, and iPads from syncing automatically.

If Photos opens when you connect your iPhone, you can quickly stop this behavior by connecting your iPhone and making the sidebar visible in View > Show Sidebar. Then select your iPhone under the Import heading in the sidebar and uncheck the box at the top for Open photos for this device.

Windows:

When you install iTunes, a small application called iTunesHelper is installed along with it. If you disable iTunesHelper, iTunes will remain inactive until you launch it.

To disable iTunesHelper, open Task Manager and click the Startup tab. Find iTunesHelper in the list, right-click and click Disable. After restarting your computer, iTunes will no longer open automatically when you connect your iPhone.

If you want to revert back to the autostart forms of iTunes, just go back to the Task Manager, find and right-click iTunesHelper, and choose Enable.
