How to Tag Someone on Facebook – Guide
Facebook depends on our connections with other people to keep us informed. Whether you’re checking in to your favorite restaurant with a best friend, or you want to write a long thank-you to your family and closest friends, there are several ways to tag your friends on Facebook. Tagging is an important part of any social media service as it allows you to notify others that you have mentioned them. This helps increase the reach of the post, may make it easier to find in the future, and provides a link that people can click to view that friend’s page.
Tagging on status updates and comments
To tag a friend in a status update, type “@” followed by their name. The @ symbol will appear in a small window and the best matching name will be highlighted. Click on the name to add it to the post. ..
You can tag people and Facebook pages in addition to your own. This includes friends of friends, business pages and the like. Be aware that if your post’s privacy is set to Friends, tagging someone makes your post visible to their friends as well.
mention who you were with
Facebook allows you to add various elements to your posts, including sentiment, location checks and the like. One of them lets you mention that you’ve been with certain friends. If one of your friends has liked a post and tagged you in it, they can see that post and follow you.
To use it, click on the Tag Friends option, which looks like a blue silhouette of a person with a tag next to it. This brings up a search box where you can enter a friend’s name. Use the box to select one or more of your friends here. Be aware that, unlike the above, you can only tag your own friends using this method as you are claiming you were with them.
You’re now with your friend’s line at the top of your status. Type your post normally and people will see this line to explain who you were with. As above, this allows friends of your friends to see the post.
While tagging people makes sense by mentioning them in what their status says, this method is most useful for letting people know that your friends were actually with you for something.
photo tagging
To tag friends in photos, you can use the Com line in the photo description. This will add their names to the Com line, which is also used to easily identify them in other photos.
If you tag someone in a photo, their friends can see it on their timeline and you can see the tags. To tag an existing photo, open it – the image can be yours or someone else’s. Click the Tag icon in the upper-right corner, then click a face in the image. Below the box, type a friend’s name; friends of friends and pages also work. ..
