Guide: How to Transfer Data from Nike+ to Strava

Nike + and Strava are two great tools that I’ve been using for a few weeks now. Nike + gives you access to a large and active community, while Strava lets you record your morning rides. Both tools are great for setting goals and connecting with a large community.

I wanted to transfer my runs from Nike + to Strava because I thought it would be a challenge. ..

I realized that Nike’s + platform is closed. This makes it difficult to export data for use outside the ecosystem. There are several mobile apps claiming to move Nike’s health and fitness data, but recent changes by Nike make these apps useless. ..

After some research, I found two apps that still work, but with a caveat. The data is slightly off, but still not a deal breaker. Let’s see them in action. ..

Requirements

If you used your Google or other social media account to create and log in Nike + and Strava, you will need a new password. The apps I have shared below ask for login details and your social media account password is not working. Open Strava and tap the menu to log out. Then tap Forgot password to receive an email with a link to create a new password.

Create a new password for Nike Run Club and Nike+ Write them down somewhere handy and move on to the next step.

1. SyncMyTracks

SyncMyTracks is an app that connects and works with many health and fitness apps, including Strava and Nike Run Club. The user interface is quite simple. Select Nike + Run Club under the Export from option and enter your email address and password here.

The free version of the app does not export weight, store data locally in the SyncMyTracks app, or let you export data by date. However, you can select the number of activities (max. 40). Choose Strava from the Import to option and enter an ID and password there. When you’re done, tap Start at the top right of your screen.

The Nike + app is connecting to the Nike+ servers and exporting activity data. The data looks accurate, but it may take some time to export all the activity data.

The date, GPS location, map data, and burned color data are exported correctly. However, the distance traveled, average pace and duration data may differ slightly. I don’t think it’s a deal breaker unless you’re an athlete or like competitive sports. I’m just glad I have something to show for all the hard work I put into my runs. Of course Strava says I ran a few meters less than what I did and that the pace is a bit slower, but it’s not that bad. It is only a means to an end.

In another comparison, the distance is good, but the time is a bit off. When I checked my other runs the distance and pace data was not good, just by a margin. If you can live with that, go for it. You can also edit these imported runs in Strava by tapping the menu. That way you can correct these marginal errors.

The SyncMyTracks app for $ 3.49 will let you keep all activities in sync between Nike Run Club and Strava, selectively export data based on date, remove ads, and remove the activity limit.

2. RunGap

The RunGap app is a popular app for syncing workout related data between many fitness apps and devices. It is only available to iOS users. To use the app, first download it and run it. Tap the menu icon and select Accounts & Settings.

Now, you can use Nike+ and Strava to connect with each other.

If you sign in to Nike +, RunGap, and then sign out of the app, your data will not be synced. However, if you sign in to Nike + and then sign out of the app, your data will be synced.

If you’re having trouble importing your Nike data to Strava, exporting it to a Dropbox or email account may help. ..

3. Manually

manual mode

This is an interesting way to run, but it can be time-consuming and tedious. Maybe just run your best runs? The one time you broke the record or won a bet?

Run for it

Nike has decided to shut down its API, making it difficult for third-party apps to provide data transfer services. These are some of the ways that still work in some capacity. Try them out to see if they work for you too. If you want more control over your data, you need to distance yourself from Nike as soon as possible.

Google Fit and Samsung Health are two of the most popular fitness trackers on the market. They both have their pros and cons, but which one is the best for you? ..
