Guide: Pocket Casts vs Google Podcasts: Comparison and Review

I found a few that I liked, but I wanted to find one that was customizable and had a lot of features. That’s when I discovered Google Home. It has all the features I was looking for and it’s also really easy to use. I can ask it to play my favorite podcast, or listen to a specific episode. It also has a built-in speaker so I can listen in any room of the house. Google Home is definitely changing the way I consume information and podcasts are one of the ways that is happening. ..

I initially chose Google Podcasts because I thought it would work well with my assistant, which is also owned by Google. My colleagues then recommended Pocket Casts to me, and they said it’s better to discover and host podcasts. ..

Pocket Casts is better at dealing with podcasts than Google Podcasts. It offers more features, including the ability to add your own music and sound effects, and has a more user-friendly interface.

1. User interface and experience

Google has adopted a fully visible material design theme for its Podcasts app. You’ll see a list of all the podcasts you have subscribed to at the top with a way to browse new, current, and downloaded podcasts. Scroll a little further and you’ll find options to discover trending and top podcasts from a variety of niches. The user interface is uncluttered, easy to use and has few options to distract you.

Pocket Casts has a better user interface with a navigation bar at the bottom with four self-explanatory tabs. I liked the Discovery tab, which makes it easy to search for new podcasts using categories.

The Filters tab on the left side of the podcast app lets you browse your subscribed podcasts and create new filters. The Profile tab on the right side of the app shows you some interesting statistics about your listening habits.

2. Discover and manage podcasts

Google Podcasts is a great way to organize your podcast subscriptions and find new shows. However, it can be difficult to find all the categories that it has to offer. It would be helpful if Google added a menu or tab so that you could easily navigate between them.

If you click on a podcast, you’ll be able to see more options. You can subscribe, donate if you like their work, and listen to individual podcasts.

Pocket Casts lets you subscribe to your favorite podcasts in a separate tab without having to go through the Discovery tab. You can also see more information about the podcast, such as site link, publisher information, and release frequency. There is no donation option though.

Podcasts are neatly organized by categories and you can set the region at the bottom of the screen. That will change the featured podcasts in all categories.

If you want to change your region, you can do so by visiting the Google Play Store on your phone and clicking on “Settings.” From there, you can select your region and make any necessary changes. ..

3. Listening to podcasts

Google Podcasts offers a variety of ways to listen to your favorite podcasts. You can fast forward and reverse the audio, change the reading speed, and trim silent parts of a podcast. Additionally, you can set a sleep timer for when you want to listen to your favorite podcasts in bed.

Pocket Casts offers all features existing in Google Podcasts and continues. There is a sleep timer and an option to skip podcasts forward and back a few seconds. I like the bookmark feature marked with a star. Doing so will save the podcast episode to my profile so I can revisit it in the future.

When you tap the Timer button, there is an extra option called Volume boost. This option boosts the volume, but I never felt the need for it as I always use headphones. If you’re surrounded by noise and don’t have headphones with you, this might be useful.

4. Pocket Casts Features

Pocket Casts comes with several features that Google Podcasts does not have. For example, you can skip forward or backward by 30 or 10 seconds, respectively. Additionally, Pocket Casts will notify you when there are new podcasts to listen to. ..

There is a dark theme in the podcast world, and it’s no less true black. You can control what happens when the podcast is over. You can archive completed podcasts that are also removed from downloads. You can download all new episodes or just the ones attached to it Up following list. There is also a Wi-Fi setting so you don’t accidentally download podcasts over a metered connection.

You can add podcasts to your Up next list and listen to them in any order with drag and drop – more flexibility.

5. Platforms and Prices

Google Podcasts is a great way to keep up with your favorite podcasts without spending any money. Plus, Google Assistant has native support so you can create routines with them. This is a great competitor to other podcast platforms.

Pocket Casts is one of the best podcast apps available. It has a lot of features and settings that you will use, and it also supports Google Assistant. However, you cannot add Pocket Casts to your routines. You must ask the Assistant to play a podcast episode, and if you just ask him to play the next episode, he will default to Google Podcasts.

Google Podcasts is introducing a new feature called Episode Search, which will allow users to search for specific keywords in the full transcript of their favorite podcasts. This powerful feature will make it easier for podcast users to find and explore all of the content that they love.

Pocket Casts is available on both Android and iOS, but not a web version. If you want Google Podcasts on iOS, you need to use Assistant and ask it to play the podcast.

Podcasts are Radio 2.0

Podcasts are a great way to keep up with your favorite shows without having to leave your living room. Both Google Podcasts and Pocket Casts offer solid podcast apps, but Pocket Casts has so much more to offer. If you’re just starting out, try Google Podcasts first as it’s free and pretty good. If you’re an experienced user or just want to replace your old podcast app, try Pocket Casts.

Android smartphones come with a variety of different podcast apps, so if you’re looking for one that’s specifically tailored to your needs, here are 10 options to consider. ..
