With the attention span decreasing and stress increasing, we started looking for meditation apps. These apps claim to help you be aware and reduce anxiety and stress with the help of guided sessions. Inspired by the success of leaders like Headspace and Calm, a new player has emerged. 10 Percent Happier is based on Dan Harris’ real life experiences with drugs, war, depression, stress, and finally meditation and peace. Some kind of trip, huh?

I have used and recommended Headspace several times. Andy Puddicombe was a monk well versed in the art of meditation. He will guide you through the whole process.

2. Meditation sessions

The 30 free sessions of Headspace are designed to help you focus and relax. Each session lasts approximately 10-15 minutes and starts with a one-minute video explaining what to expect and do. Andy Puddicombe has a soft-spoken British accent, ideal for a meditation teacher. They also have a female voice now, but I didn’t hear her.

10 Percent Happier also has a basic course but with only 7 free sessions. You will then have to subscribe to unlock the rest. Dan Harris was called in to build a course for the platform, but they held on to him as a co-founder after they found his techniques were effective and had a lot of experience.

The Sessions app will guide you through the process with short pauses in between to let you follow the instructions, which are simple commands like do this, think about it, and so on. ..
